The Director of Fine Arts and Cultural Heritage, Enrique Ujaldón, presented today the pastor of the church of Santa Maria la Real de Aledo, Francisco José Moreno, of the restored image of the Dolorosa Francisco Salzillo.
The intervention consisted of the analysis and color sat, mechanical and chemical cleaning, removal of repainting, fixing cracks and ungluing, reintegration and protection chromatic final.
The restoration has taken a lead time of two and half months and a cost of 9,000 euros.
This is a picture painted wooden dress dating to 1782-1783.
The size is a model inspired by the sculptor Murcia made for the Brotherhood of Jesus of Murcia as they manifest in the relevant documentary sources belonging to the Confraternity of Our Lady of the Assumption of Aledo and the way they are dressed spurs robes with flowers planted or brocaded in gold and silver.
Salzillo recreated an original and extraordinary imagery applied to many images of him, including telling this to Aledo.
The play had a poor condition with many repainting of various ages.
Under the repainting the original color had a lot of dirt or varnish oxidized.
It is also noted the misplacement of some fingers, with the little finger of his left hand a later contribution.
