On 13 August there will be an extraordinary Pilgrimage of Santa Eulalia to Aledo (13/07/2015)

The Holy Foundation accepted the proposal of the Parish of Santa Maria la Real de Aledo jointly organize a transfer in procession of the image of Santa Eulalia to Aledo.

It is known by all the great diffusion that has on our environment devotion to Santa Eulalia de Merida, patron of Totana, and his sanctuary is the main focus of pilgrimage and popular devotion of all covered populations in the region of Guadalentín and Sierra Espuña where is the town of Aledo.

Due both to the geographical proximity of this town to the Sanctuary of La Santa, as to the historical and traditional relationship that unites Aledo with Santa Eulalia and Totana, this devotion has if anything increased in the surrounding Christian roots.

Proof of this are very often faithful attending Mass in the Sanctuary, the Santa Eulalia visiting to pray and accompany her on her pilgrimages to Totana, or even the presence of Santa Eulalia in many homes in Aledo by proxy or picture its image.

For all the above, the Board of the La Santa Foundation approved unanimously organize, together with the parish of Santa María la Real de Aledo transfer of the sacred image of the girl Martil from its sanctuary to the church of Aledo, and subsequent return in procession back to its shrine.

The Holy Foundation is aware that the impact of these acts can serve to promote and maintain devotion to Santa Eulalia and also to strengthen the brotherhood between our two peoples.
