Ecologists in Action Murcia Region welcomes the decision of the Supreme Court dismissed the appeal by the Regional Government and the council of Aledo, and confirms the annulment of Municipal General Management Plan (PGMO) of the municipality.
The court confirmed the cancellation of the plan made by the Superior Court of Justice of Murcia in 2010.
Ecologists in Action criticized in their day PGMO considering it a real blunder and an example of how not to do things at a time when prevailing in the region of Murcia the urban pitch and the housing bubble.
Ecologists then denounced the excesses of a draft development plan that projected population growth of more than 200 000 inhabitants in the municipality without having secured power and water supplies.
This environmental organization criticized the serious environmental impacts accounted urban planning project in which a large portion of municipal land with figures of environmental protection as SCI and SPA, was threatened by real estate development proposed in the plan.
Ecologists in Action also agrees with the criticism that the Supreme Court makes to regional and local administrations in the sense that the solutions proposed in the draft development plan can be considered irrational and arbitrary.
In this sense, the environmental demand accountability in the areas of regional and local administration, and the resignation of those directly responsible for the development of an urban plan that contravened the law and has minimized or ignored the serious environmental impacts of the project.
