In his speech at the Highest Awards 2012, Palacios said that "at this time, in which young people look to the future with uncertainty and families suffer despair generated by the loss of a job, our elders have become a benchmark of strength, determination and perseverance in the exploration of our tomorrow. "
During his speech, said that the awards were created six years ago because the regional government understood needed public recognition formula "those who have worked so hard for this region and for the welfare of the elderly."
In this regard, he said that "there is no greater affirmation of the commitment to offering you, our greatest tools to take advantage of this stage of life to the full" and defended the promotion of actions to improve staff greater autonomy, delaying, insofar as possible, dependent states.
María Ángeles Palacios referred to Social Centres for the Elderly, as spaces for the development of activities that promote active aging.
"Spaces for learning and entertainment. Spaces to share their concerns and also to reflect on their needs," he added.
Major Awards 2012

An emotional ceremony
