The regional government pays an affectionate tribute to Uncle Juan Rita for his career, on the occasion of the celebration of his 108 years of age, and does so through the exhibition 'Uncle Juan Rita: a photographic tribute (1984-2019)', which today opens at the General Archive of the Region of Murcia, at 8:00 p.m.
This is a selection of 54 images made by 33 photographers (professionals and amateurs), which were convened through social networks to participate in the tribute to this "institution of traditional culture of the Region of Murcia" as It is Uncle Juan Rita, who turns 108 tomorrow, according to the Director General of Cultural Property, Rafael Gómez.
The curators of the exhibition are the professor of Art History of the University of Murcia, José Fernando Vázquez Casillas, and the specialist and researcher of Murcian folklore, Tomás García Martínez.
The exhibition has several personal and material objects on the figure of Uncle Juan Rita (publications, recordings or family photos, among others), a file will be exhibited on him, which dates from 1933 and is kept in the General Archive.
Gómez specified that "a catalog with the images has been edited and the exhibition is complemented by the audiovisual projection of Juan Tudela (prepared and provided by the Integra Foundation). In addition, attendees will be able to hear on-site recordings of several trovos of theirs or dedicated to him for other 'suddeners' and download them on their phones using a QR code. "
The exhibition can be visited until next March 13.
The schedule is Monday and Tuesday, from 8:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
